Rocky
S
Rocky S can be counted among those few Indian designers who
concentrate on Western wear in a large scale. But that does
not mean that his forte is limited to westerns. Far from it,
he has made a mark for himself by designing some stunning garments
for those who adorn our silver screens. He believes in what
he calls 'wearable' clothes that suit men and women of all age
groups. Of course, the real scene-stealers are his white lycra
dresses with vivid abstract Indian paintings on them. Other
than his own store, Rocky also retails his label to outlets
all over India.

Wendell
Rodricks
Who would have thought that one of India's hottest designers'
initial calling would be from the world of hotel management?
That's Wendell Rodricks for you. Catering graduate turned haute
couturier. No wannabe designs, no gaudy displays. With an intimate
and engaging passion for white, his trademark minimalist chic
style has become a rage among those discerning connoisseurs
who prefer the subtle for the explicit. One of the first Indians
to take his range to the international fashion fair IGEDO in
Dusseldorf, his passion for minimalism is also evident in his
range of jewellery, and the uniforms of the Goa State Police
that he designed. |
Marvie
Beck
The first celebrity face she worked on was that of singer Alisha
Chinai. That was in 1984. Marvie used to be an airhostess before
she entered the beauty business, but quit the job because she
wanted to pursue a career that would do justice to her creative
bent of mind. After completing a holiday course at the Delamar
School of Make-up, London, she simply phoned a few friends in
Mumbai and directly approached photographers for work. She hasn't
looked back since.

she was instrumental in giving the lead characters a contemporary,
yet intense look. |
